Tigran,
a chess program written in C++ by FIDE master Josep Parés.
Tigran played the First Spanish Computer Chess Championship, the SCCC 1993 in Barcelona, and the 4th SCCC 1996 in Granada respectively, and apparently had too much chess knowledge implemented to survive from the fast searchers.
